MILTON CHAFFEE NAMED MVA CHIEF DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR
MVA Selects Veteran Manager as Second in Command GLEN BURNIE, MD, May 19, 2006 - Newly appointed Administrator John T. Kuo, today named Milton Chaffee as Chief Deputy Administrator for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. "Milt Chaffee's high energy, people-oriented approach and more than 20 years of management experience makes him the ideal person for this position," said Kuo. "He brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, talent and hands-on experience to our management team." Mr. Chaffee developed his reputation for being a people's manager while serving as Senior Director of Operations with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Inc. from 1988 - 2002. Following this corporate level position with KFC, Inc., he joined the MVA in 2002 as Director of Employee and Administrative Services. In his role there, he was tasked with the responsibility of directing the areas of procurement and contracts; engineering, real estate and facility maintenance; human resources; training and development; and support services. In October 2003, Mr. Chaffee was named MVA Associate Administrator of Operations overseeing the daily operations of the agency's 1,700 employees and its 45 branch and testing facilities located throughout the State. "Improved customer service is a core priority at MVA, and in this new role Milt brings in the private sector management philosophy that I want and will make a tremendous contribution to our customer service operation," Kuo added. "Milt shares my vision and recognizes the importance of providing good customer service to the citizens of Maryland. He also shares my goal of ensuring that we continue to implement various new initiative to allow our customers additional options for conducting their MVA transaction(s) compared to the traditional "walk-in" service at branch locations."
